Welcome to the Oct / Nov 2021 edition of the newsletter!
I can not believe it is October already. What a year this has been. Christmas is only 2 months away! If you have any new failsafe festive recipes you would like to submit for the Christmas edition, please reply to this email. Looking forward to hearing from you!
There are two big fundraiser awareness months coming up that I am sure you have all heard of. The first one is the Pink Ribbon Breakfast (National Breast Cancer Foundation), it runs the whole month of October. Did you know that up to 55 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer every day! This one is very close to my heart as there is a history of breast cancer in my family and I am grateful to be closely screened every 6 months.
The second one is in November, Movember. This movement focuses on men's mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Unchecked, prostate cancer rates will double over the next 15 years. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men aged 15-39 years of age. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 75% of all suicides. Prostate cancer is another that has affected my family, these health issues need to be discussed more to ensure that men are more comfortable to get themselves checked.
Please make sure you get yourself and your loved ones checked over the next two months! At the bottom of the newsletter you can find more information and links for the Pink Ribbon Breakfast and Movember.
Take care and happy cooking!

FAILSAFE Maple Chicken Stir Fry ~ My Failsafe Life Blog
"One of the things that I miss most right now are stir fries. There was always one on the menu, and often two if I could swing it.
Some of my favorite things about this FAILSAFE maple chicken stir fry:
it’s easy, it’s colorful (especially when using red cabbage), it’s crunchy, it’s stir fry it’s delicious, it’s flexible, it’s easy … oh, wait. This recipe can be whatever you want it to be. It’s also a great way to use up some veggies or switch up flavor profiles. We always have green beans, celery, brussels sprouts, and cabbage on hand, so it was an easy choice. Prefer chayote (choko) or rutabaga? Great. Add ‘em in!"

coach_failsafe: Lamb gozleme with ‘feta’ ‘spinach’ and ‘lemon’. It was a bit tiring making all the fake things and the pastry as well but very satisfying to eat and it really does go crispy. [recipe link]

CREAMY GARLIC CHICKEN RISOTTO
Domestic Diva: I created this Thermomix risotto because I love garlic! It is so simple to make, beautifully creamy and has a lovely subtle flavour. It would be easy to make this a vegetarian dish by swapping the chicken for 500g of vegetables of your choice. [recipe link]

3 INGREDIENT CABBAGE PASTA

Cabbage pasta is a dish that I’ve grown up eating. If you don’t have much money and need to feed lots of mouths, this is the perfect dish.
* leave out pepper for failsafe.
Taste.com.au: Braised leeks and swede are delicious accompaniments to roast meats or a great side to any dish. * use homemade vegetable stock or homemade chicken stock (not bought) to reduce amines. [recipe link]

CREAMY CHICKEN & LEEK PARCELS
Be a Fun Mum: Chicken and leek are favourite combinations of mine and to be honest, so is anything wrapped in puff pastry! The parcels are super easy to make and a great recipe to make ahead and freeze for those nights when you don’t feel like cooking.
* use homemade vegetable stock or homemade chicken stock (not bought) to reduce amines. [recipe link]

Gluten Free Nutrition: A Gluten Free, Dairy Free, delicious calamari dish nestled in a salad between two potato scallops. A must try! [recipe link]

SHEET PAN EGGS & BRUSSELS SPROUTS
My Failsafe Life: The trick here is to cut the brussels sprouts as thin as you can so that they soften up and start to caramelize. And then, once the brussels sprouts get into that good place, you create a well and crack in your eggs. Then cook for a few minutes more before devouring the entire sheet pan. [recipe link]

SBS - Adam Liaw: My aunty taught me this one, and it’s become my go-to. Super simple. As far as toppings go, I like to re-create my childhood café favourite.
* use Schweppes brand lemonade for failsafe and suitable failsafe sprinkles if using or leave out. [recipe link]
Fed Up: Easy to make and delicious to eat, this recipe can be dairy free and gluten free. Tammy says "have made it with A2 milk and rice milk and prefer the rice milk version".
