Cooking for Oscar - Finnish Christmas Stars (Joulutorttu) are very to easy to make, you can use any kind of pastry and any kind of filling. Traditionally they are made with plum or prune jam, but that was out. I could have just used pear or apple jam, but I wanted something a bit more festive, so I made up a pear filling with brown sugar, citric acid and maple syrup. I also used a few saffron threads to get a deeper colour into the mix. [read more]

This is my favourite Thermomix fudge recipe. I usually make a couple of batches for Christmas, some to give as gifts and some for us to indulge in. It contains glucose syrup which usually contains a preservative in it. The preservative is cooked off during the cooking process when it is boiled. [recipe] If you are after a traditional fudge recipe, try this Quick Carob Fudge from the fed up web site.

Domestic Diva - Red quinoa looks so pretty cooked and made me think of Christmas. Oh, and you don’t need to wait for Christmas to have it… is great with a BBQ or as a side to any dish, any time of year. [read more]
