Vanilla “milkshake”

January 29, 2018 by Rona 1 Comment

Vanilla “milkshake” by Melanee

This is a super-simple, refreshing treat. I think it tastes like a “real” vanilla milkshake, but without all the sugar.

Vanilla “milkshake” by Melanee

1 cup milk or dairy-free alternative
1 peeled ripe pear
1 generous teaspoon cashew butter*
Dash of vanilla essence/powder (or as much as you can tolerate)
Lots of ice

I use a personal blender (e.g. Breville/NutriBullet) to whiz it all together, adding 4-5 cubes of ice at a time until thick.

*I make my cashew butter with 500 grams raw cashews, ½ teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon vanilla essence, whizzed in a food processor for ages until it turns into a paste. Yum!
